Apostle Derek Talbird, the founder and overseer of Living Word Memphis, is a man after God’s own heart. He is filled with a shepherd’s heart, that he regularly demonstrates in very tangible ways for the people he is called to lead. He was born in New York City, New York, but was brought up in Memphis, Tennessee. Apostle Talbird entered the United States Navy after graduating high school, where he learned many valuable skills to help lead God’s people. He displays a God-given ability to relate to people from all walks of life, with a special concern for young people and those whose day-to-day lives have become overly burdensome. Apostle Talbird was baptized at the age of 19 at The Garden of Prayer Church in San Diego, California on February 22, 1992 by Elder Joseph R Hall. Upon coming up out of the water he was baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Apostle Talbird served in several ministries before being called by God to be set over a flock. He was ordained as an Elder by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in Los Angeles, California.
On March 28, 2010, Living Word Memphis held its first service, and God has been confirming His ministry with many signs, wonders and miracles. Apostle Derek was ordained as an Apostle in October 2016, by Apostle Matthew Stevenson, who is the founder and overseer, of the All Nations Network.
Apostle Derek Talbird’s goal is to build a healthy church, connect with other like-minded leaders and congregations, and to extend GOD’S Kingdom expression throughout the city of Memphis, Tennessee, the southern region, and the nation for the Lord Jesus Christ.
